It’s like all the debris of the wall hit them on the head and smashed them down into inspired musical wrecks.
Berlin is just full of music on currents, dials and wires.
Smash TV – Nobody (Modeselektor remix)
This is just one example of fruit you can pick from the large Berlin tree of Bpitch Control – a record label created by giant Ellen Allien in 1997. Modeselektor lost interest in going big on beats and instead started creating some of the weirdest soundscapes known to our bodies – unthinkable sounds. The original mix of Nobody by Smash TV was eigentlich amazing, somehow Modeselektor made it even more impressive. Seriously; go to the Bpitch Control Official website – it’ll whistle your brain off conveniently. So much good music.
Nathan Fake from Norfolk but released singles through German Label Traumschallplatten. He’s already made it: he’s huge.
Nathan Fake – Long Sunny
This isn’t his biggest but it’s my favourite by an ocean-width. Sometimes I think the name of the track is overwhelmingly important and this is exactly how I’d personally imagine audio to the words ‘Long Sunny’. It’s like being put in a solar-powered lightweight capsule that moves about on the horizon and over the sea, without boundary and with the most gigantic sense of refreshment one could think to endure.
But then Fairmont brings you back down to earth with some turfy bass.
Nathan Fake – Long Sunny (Fairmont Remix)
North Norfolk’s coast is really nice
