Burnt Out

This year seem like a great year for instrumental music, well for me at least. Swans have smashed Post-Rock’s collective consciousness with their epic 2 hour symphony. It’s been spinning sound my head for the last few weeks and I still get captivated by tiny little intricacies which I haven’t noticed in previous listens. And then Godspeed You! Black Emperor go and release this.

It’s fair enough to say that I’ve been fully engrossed in hard hitting walls of sound for the last month. So when Embers popped up in the APFOS lab I was truly delighted. Haunting drones enveloping each other bedded by grandiose drums it’s truly epic. It’s highly cinematic, and if you take a look at their video for their new single Tunnel Vision (below) or the b-side Sins Unknown you’ll see how energetic and engrossing their audio-visual combination is. Four guys from Manchester making totally rad loud music. I’m reliably informed that they’re next playing 15th October at the Soup Kitchen in Manchester but go to their Facebook page to find out more.

Much love
