Henry Skewes

Henry Skewes – Middle Of The Road

I’m sitting in a sandwich shop called La Taaza just outside Paddington Station. Having meandered my way to a good job interview I now have an hour and a half to kill with a chicken avocado sandwich and a smiley waitress who makes me miss my girlfriend. I also have Henry Skewes. Henry e-mailed in a few days ago and you might recognise him from the lovely flying with anna, Middle Of The Road is a particular favourite for me. Its got a great vocal, the kind that comes to you in the shower or on the late night walk back from campus. Should I ever work for a company putting music to adverts or soundtracking films then this guy would gracefully top off the opening credits to any indie flick.

But right now it just has me in La Taaza Cafe with bottles full of layered colourful chillis and the prospect of future employment to muse over.
