Waking up after a freezing Winter to a Spring sun is such a relief. I’m pretty convinced Dan gave me his cold, which has been kicking me in the head for the past week or so, but Yesterday it lifted, swiftly and suddenly. So I spent yesterday listening to summery songs lying on my bed and I thought that I would share a few. On my playlist was (were?) Girls who sadly disbanded last year, Dan Croll, and Concrete Knives. Girls pretty much speak for themselves, so I’ll let them. Dan Croll may wear ridiculous glasses but fortunately he writes and plays beautiful music. Playing slightly jerky acoustic pop songs that remind me of Jeremy Warmesly, he goes for the awkward (but not really awkward) indie chic market, but you’re not fooling anyone rugby boy! But I don’t mind. Just listen to that trumpet!
Concrete Knives are a tasty little group from France. I’m not really big in the know about music that’s not from the UK or US which I feel ashamed by because there are many great bands and producers from all over and listening to music from two countries could possibly be a bit restricting. Anyhow, the female lead vocalist sounds a bit like Joe from Tubelord, which is pretty cool. They released this track a few days ago and are off around the UK on a tour at the moment! Have a listen.
