Gang Starr-Full Clip
Peter Salstedt-Where Do You Go To My Lovely
Eleanor Friedberger-My Mistakes
Listening to Radio 2 today it felt like djs were breezing over the fact that many parts of the UK are in anarchy, they somewhat inexplicably played the star wars theme but, to be honest, I wasn’t complaining. The riots have spawned a nation full of people convinced they know what they’re talking about and many haven’t failed to inform each other of the causes, consequences and solutions. Social degeneration, poverty, cocaine, ignorance, pathetic, hatred, failing economy, apocalypse, education, broken Britain, cuts, welfare state, destruction, rubber bullets-EXTERMINATE THE BRUTES. It’s information overload. Of course we should be socially aware and I cannot help but be shocked by the picture of Britain painted in the past few days, it sits so awkwardly next to our expectations but I’m not going to dictate the direction the country should take from my armchair. If I think about it too much I feel like the curious dog who stares too deeply into the well and falls in, its an ugly state of affairs but I’m not going to insult those affected by pretending I know all the answers. These songs should not be read into too much its just music for the sake of hearing something else other than bad news.
