This is kind of a late post, in the sense that Tilly & The Wall’s new album came out back in the beginning of October, but after waiting four years for another album from them I felt that I should write something . I bought the album a few weeks ago, and I have to say I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first heard they were back. When ‘O’ came out in 2008, I was 18, and I liked the album to some extent, but it wasn’t as near as good as ‘Wild Like Children’ or ‘Bottoms Of Barrels’, and I started to forget about Tilly. I still can’t believe that when ‘Wild Like Children’ came out in 2004, I was fourteen. I guess that’s why I bought the new record. No matter how many years pass, I will still always love Tilly & The Wall, because their music defined my teenage years, and every time I listen to them it reminds me of being completely free – and having nothing to worry to about when you’re young (just listen to the classic ‘Nights of The Living Dead). Now I’m 22, just finished university and I can’t find a job, i’m living at home and have no money. Listening to ‘Heavy Mood’ was such a great remedy to how lost I’ve been feeling. Even though they can’t solve my material problems, Tilly & The Wall have definitely brought me back some kind of new happiness and new energy. ‘Heavy Mood’ is a great return for Tilly & The Wall. Stand out tracks for me include ‘Static Expression’, ‘Thicker Than Thieves’ , ‘Heavy Mood’, and ‘Defenders’. Get it from Team Love.
