The Malex Kings

The Malex Kings – Welcome To Chicago

When I was about 13 years old I used to plug my £40 electric guitar into my £20 amp, put a CD of bluesy backing tracks on repeat then spend hours larking around with any noises I could come up with. I’m pretty sure the only way I could have had more fun would be if there had been some guy explaining from a nearby passenger seat that: “there are 106 miles to go till Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, a half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark and we are wearing sunglasses”.

I love this song probably because it brings me back to my earliest music interests: The White Stripes, The Chilli Peppers, The Dirtbombs and the inherited noises of Zeppelin, Hendrix, The Who and The Jam. This kind of fret play is still just as fun as it ever was and it’s cool to know there are couple of Spanish guys with 35 likes on Facebook plugging this shit around.
