I’m feeling generous, so here are four lurverly tracks. The first two certainly have a dream pop aesthetic, Violas offer woozy two in the morning sort of track, you know the room is spinning a little bit…the vocals here are pure and almost hymnal, the guitars drift around in the mix, it swells towards the end yeah its a good’un. Shady Elders, firstly that is a terrific band name secondly that voice-its terrific! This is like soul dream-pop, the vocals really cut through the reverb and give the track an emotional body. Next Haiku Salut with Glockelbar, this track is a bizzare little nugget, an oddity to be cherished. Part folk, part electronic, a bizarre track which also features a straight up pop melody. Finally Magic Man follow up on the success of Paris with a real statement of intent. The statement of intent is in the the first four bars of chunky, ridiculously catchy synths. It has a bit of an 80’s feel, I can see myself dancing to this in a brash suit with a dry martini and bouffant hair…yeah one day. Tracks like this get me thinking 2013 could be a good year for Magic Man.
